Big news item at the weekend – it even made the headline in the Scottish edition of the times.
The mighty Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are to invest £100 million over a period of five years, “to turn Edinburgh and the Lothians into a ‘green energy hub’. Report in full at Guardian site.
This is interesting for a number of reasons:
-it means that the country has moved pretty far along the renewables route for a project of this size to be undertaken
-because a company of Mitsubishi’s size being involved means jobs being created at a a time when it’s needed
- even just from an observer’s perspective, seeing the world’s largest model of turbine off our shores will be a source of interest from around the world, hopefully an iconic landmark of a Scotland entering this new green phase of existence.
